Imagine a world where your favorite messaging app also serves as your gateway to the decentralized web. That's exactly what Telegram and The Open Network (TON) are aiming to achieve.
Bybit's latest report reveals how this dynamic duo is making waves in the Web3 space, with ambitious plans to onboard a billion users. Let's dive into the details of this groundbreaking collaboration.
TON's Strategy for Mass Adoption
TON, a layer-1 blockchain, has seamlessly integrated with Telegram. This integration is key to its strategy.
Bybit's report highlights that TON aims to onboard 30% of Telegram's users by 2028. With Telegram's user base nearing one billion, this translates to around 500 million TON users.
The blockchain is already seeing impressive growth, with 280,000 daily active users and 800,000 daily transactions.
Innovative Features Driving Growth

One of TON's standout features is its self-custodial crypto wallet, TON Space. Launched in November 2023, it saw 800,000 accounts created within three months. By April, this number had skyrocketed to six million.
Another innovative feature is Telegram Mini-Apps. These apps, including popular "Tap-to-Earn" games like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat, are driving user engagement. They offer rewards, making them a hit among users.
This growth places TON among the top-performing cryptocurrencies of 2024. With a market cap of $17.5 billion, TON ranks fifth among layer-1 networks.
Bybit believes that TON has the potential to replicate the success of WeChat and become the next SuperApp, thanks to its innovative strategies and seamless integration with Telegram.
