Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum's co-founder, proves once again that digital assets can drive positive change. He recently sold over $822,000 worth of $MOODENG tokens and donated the funds to Kanro, a biotech charity.
This organization, founded by Buterin, focuses on fighting airborne diseases. His actions highlight how crypto assets can support real-world causes, moving beyond speculation and hype.
Buterin’s Major Token Selloff
Buterin offloaded over 10 billion Moodeng tokens and converted them to 308.68 ETH. He then sent 260.16 ETH, valued at $642,000, to Kanro.
This donation aligns with Buterin’s philosophy of using wealth from crypto to fund impactful initiatives. Kanro focuses on developing technologies to combat airborne diseases.
$MOODENG, an altcoin based on a viral pygmy hippo, has been highly volatile. The price surged nearly 300% in two weeks, then dropped by 63% from its peak.
Shaping Crypto's Future Through Charity
Additionally, Buterin urged meme coin creators to rethink how they distribute wealth. Instead of sending tokens to his wallet, he encourages donations to charities.
He even suggests forming DAOs to better manage these funds, allowing communities to take charge. His recent actions reflect a commitment to this philosophy.
Before this donation, Buterin had sold other memecoins, including Neiro and Kabosu, and raised 140.67 ETH. He later donated 100 ETH to the legal defense of Roman Storm, the Tornado Cash developer.
$MOODENG’s price dropped by 10% following Buterin’s trades, but he remains focused on the bigger picture. He still holds 40 Billion Moodeng tokens, worth roughly $3.6 million.
