Viral Token—CHILLGUY, Nets Solana Trader $5.6M From $160 Bet

A Solana trader turned a small $160 investment into an astonishing $5.6 million profit. On Nov. 15, the trader purchased CHILLGUY tokens, inspired by the viral "Just a chill guy" meme. Using 0.5 SOL, worth $107, and later 0.246 SOL, worth $51, the trader acquired over 12 million tokens. 

Trader Reaps Millions from CHILLGUY’s Success

CHILLGUY debuted on Solana’s Pump.fun platform, riding the popularity of meme culture. Blockchain data shows the trader sold 2.8 million tokens early for 149 SOL, earning $35,000. However, by selling early, they missed out on a potential $1.6 million gain. 

Despite this, the trader still holds 9.62 million tokens, now valued at $5.6 million. The token currently trades at $0.58, making it a standout in the memecoin world. CHILLGUY’s meteoric rise highlights the unpredictable nature of memecoin investments. 

Artist Pushes Back Against CHILLGUY Token

The creator of the "Just a chill guy" meme, PhillipBankss, has expressed frustration over the token. He stated that the character was copyrighted and had not been authorized for use. On Nov. 21, the artist announced plans to issue takedowns targeting any for-profit use of the character.

However, community members on X argue that stopping decentralized tokens is nearly impossible. Memecoins with anonymous creators often operate beyond the reach of traditional regulations.

One commenter noted that CHILLGUY has grown into a symbol of decentralized innovation, separate from the artist. While the controversy continues, CHILLGUY’s rise underscores the dynamic mix of creativity, risk, and rewards.
