Raipur Adopts Blockchain for Real Estate Records : AirChains

Raipur the capital city of Chhattisgarh, is making headlines by integrating blockchain technology into its real estate record-keeping system with the help of AirChains. How will this move impact the city’s administrative efficiency and security?

The Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) annually issues over 8000 building permits, work orders, and colony development permissions. To enhance security. And efficiency the corporation has partnered with AirChains, India-based Zero-Knowledge (ZK) roll-up specialist to move these records onto blockchain.

"We faced numerous issues with document forgery," said Abinash Mishra. He is the Commissioner of RMC. "By collaborating with AirChains we developed a solution to digitize our certification process through blockchain." Mishra also mentioned plans to extend this digital documentation to other essential services like birth death and marriage certificates.

AirChains CEO Ankur Rakhi Sinha highlighted the innovative use of Zero-Knowledge Fully Homomorphic Encryption (zk-FHE) in this project. "ZK allows us to prove something is true without revealing additional information. FHE enables computations on encrypted data without decryption" Sinha explained.

The RMC has already encrypted around 100,000 old certificates using ZK. "We are not live on-chain yet" noted Sinha, "but once operational every building permission will have its own smart contract." This approach ensures every update on building permission is securely recorded on the blockchain.

Currently, verifying facts in building permission applications takes up to a month. The new system aims to cut this down to just three days. "This is a small but significant initiative" Mishra stated. "I believe many others will follow our lead."

AirChains has previously collaborated with other Indian state authorities. They worked on similar blockchain projects. This marks another step forward in India's digital transformation journey.

Raipur's adoption of blockchain for real estate records in partnership with AirChains, is set to enhance security. It will prevent forgery. It will significantly reduce processing times setting a precedent for other cities to follow.
