Hackers Breach Indian Supreme Court's YouTube, Promote Scam

Hackers recently breached the official YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India, transforming it into a platform for promoting a fraudulent Ripple (XRP) investment scheme. The attackers deleted all existing content, renamed the channel to "Ripple," and altered its URL to mislead viewers into believing it was authentic.

The hackers then broadcast a deepfake video featuring Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, who appeared to endorse a fictitious investment opportunity promising substantial returns on investments. This deceptive livestream aimed to lure unsuspecting viewers into sending their cryptocurrency to phishing links embedded in the stream, which would grant hackers access to their wallets and enable them to steal funds directly.

YouTube swiftly responded by removing the compromised channel due to violations of its Community Guidelines. This incident highlights a troubling trend of deepfake scams targeting high-profile platforms, as scammers increasingly exploit significant events and reputable channels to deceive potential victims.

Ripple's CEO has previously warned the XRP community about such deepfake scams, urging caution and advising investors to verify information through official channels. The growing prevalence of these schemes underscores the need for heightened vigilance among cryptocurrency users as they navigate an increasingly complex digital landscape.
