UK Court Rejects Craig Wright’s Appeal in COPA vs CSW Case

Craig Wright’s attempt to appeal a UK court’s ruling has been dismissed. He claimed to be Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. However, the court found his evidence lacking and ruled against him. This decision is a significant setback in Wright’s long-running legal battle over Bitcoin’s origins.

The Failed Appeal

Wright, an Australian entrepreneur, has long claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto. He says he created Bitcoin’s whitepaper, wrote its source code, and launched the network. But the UK Court of Appeal disagreed. The judge ruled there was no proof linking Wright to Nakamoto.

Wright’s evidence was deemed forged and unreliable. This ruling follows an earlier decision in which Justice James Mellor stated that Wright was not the creator of Bitcoin. Wright had hoped an appeal would overturn this, but the court found no reason for a new hearing.

Wright’s Continued Fight

Craig Wright also argued that Bitcoin developers changed the network’s features, including Taproot and SegWit, but the court dismissed this point as irrelevant to his claim. Despite the ruling, Wright still insists that Bitcoin developers owe him $1 trillion, believing he is Nakamoto.

The Crypto Open Patent Allowance (COPA) has claimed Wright violated a legal injunction. A hearing to address this is set for December 18, 2024. Wright could take his case to the UK Supreme Court, but legal experts expect the result to remain the same.

For now, the true identity of Bitcoin’s creator is still not known. Regardless, Bitcoin’s value and influence continue to grow, driven by its decentralized nature and not the identity of its creator.
