Amrita Srivastava, a former senior executive at Binance, has filed a lawsuit against the crypto giant. She claims Binance fired her unfairly after she exposed a bribery scheme within the company. Srivastava worked on the Binance Link platform, which connects brokers and customers to the exchange.
Binance Faces Bribery Allegations
Srivastava’s lawsuit centers on claims of bribery involving a Binance employee. This person allegedly took money from a customer to fast-track their entry into the Binance system. Srivastava claims she reported the issue to senior management, only to be dismissed for doing so.
Binance, however, insists her firing was due to performance issues, not whistleblowing. The company also claims the bribery matter was already under investigation by its internal audit team. Srivastava maintains that she was punished for speaking out about fraudulent behavior.
Srivastava strongly believes in the importance of integrity. She said, “Bribery and fraud are unequivocally wrong.” Her bold stance highlights the ethical tensions between company policies and employees’ duty to report wrongdoing.
The High-Pressure Environment at Binance
Srivastava also painted a picture of Binance's chaotic work culture. She joined the company in 2022, hoping to help improve compliance efforts. However, she found an environment full of stress, lacking structure and accountability.
Employees were pressured to meet high revenue targets, even while dealing with significant internal issues, including links to Iran. Along with seeking compensation for unfair dismissal, Srivastava is concerned about the lasting effects on her career.
The experience at Binance, she says, has damaged her professional reputation. While the company argues the issue was already under investigation, Srivastava’s case has added fuel to the ongoing debate about ethical practices in the crypto industry.
